Choosing the right protection railings for your workplace safety

Impact protection railings can be used in a range of operational areas, including outdoor areas, workshops and warehouses. They are used to safely separate work zones, traffic routes and pedestrian walkways in facilities with industrial trucks or delivery traffic. Our durable protective railings help prevent both serious workplace injuries and damage to equipment and industrial trucks.

At Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, you can purchase protection railings made from durable materials that are suitable for use in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor facilities like warehouses and workshops. All warehouse guardrail systems in our product range are certified and meet the legal requirements for their respective areas of application. We also offer accessories and individual parts for impact protection railings, which can be used to accommodate the changing requirements of your business.

1. Choosing the right type of warehouse safety railing to meet your needs

Impact protection railings create a physical and visual separation between vehicle and pedestrian walkways. We offer high-quality individual parts that enable you to build customised protective railings and safety railing systems for efficient impact protection in your facility.

We also offer flexible warehouse guard rails made from polyethylene (PE). PE is highly temperature resistant (-10°C to +50°C) and has a high food safety grade, making it a hygienic solution for securing areas used for food production and storage.

2. Buying impact protection railings for collision safety

In addition to plastic-coated steel versions, many of the warehouse railing systems from Jungheinrich PROFISHOP have additional impact protection to absorb collision forces particularly effectively. Railing posts and crossbars made from polymer blends, polyolefin, PE and SBS rubber in combination with steel absorb the impact energy and return to their original form.

Our high-quality railings offer many advantages in daily logistics and industrial operations:

  • Drivers and pedestrians are protected from serious collision injuries.
  • Impact absorption prevents expensive damage to industrial trucks.
  • Your warehouse floor and railing anchors stay intact.
  • The railing bounces back after impact without needing replacement.

These impact protection systems are available as complete sets or individual components, including posts, railing sets and door elements.

4. FAQ for protection railings

UK health and safety legislation, including PUWER 1998 and PAS 13:2017, mandates appropriate safety barriers in facilities with vehicle traffic. Protection railings and safety railings are required to protect employees and equipment from collision damage, as installing them is one way to prevent both serious injuries and costly equipment damage.

Protection railings should be high enough to provide protection to personnel and inventory against injuries and damage. UK standard BS 6180:2011 specifies a minimum height of 1,100 mm for industrial barriers. At Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, we offer railing in heights ranging from 1,000 mm to 1,185 mm to meet these requirements.

Protection railings are quick and easy to install. Base plates are secured to the floor with dowels, and crossbeams slot into place to form a stable barrier. Regular inspection and maintenance are legally required to ensure ongoing safety compliance.
