How to find the right drawer cabinets for workshops, offices, and warehouses

Our professional drawer cabinets are suitable as versatile storage solutions for the workshop, warehouse, and office. Depending on your needs, they are ideal for storing tools, documents, and other work materials. Our theft-proof lockable drawer cabinets are available in different heights and widths as well as various configurations.

All workshop and office drawers from our range are made from powder-coated sheet steel. This makes the surface resistant to scratches and scuffs, as well as contaminants such as oil, grease, and water.

Please note: All heavy-duty drawer cabinet units from Jungheinrich PROFISHOP are suitable for both industrial and personal use. For a mobile storage solution suitable for transporting tools and other work materials, see our range of workshop trolleys.

1. Choosing the right dimensions and number of drawers

To ensure that you can store all your tools and work materials clearly and safely, the number of drawers is an important consideration. At Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, we have models with up to nine drawers, which can be arranged in your chosen configuration. Depending on the model, drawers can be pulled out up to 80%, 90% or even 100%.

The dimensions of the drawers are also important when choosing suitable metal drawers for a workshop or office. Here, the drawer width, height, and depth should be selected to suit the items to be stowed:

Drawer size Suitable for
Flat drawers (approximately 50 mm depth, depending on the model)
  • Hand tools such as wrenches or pliers
  • Files and documents
  • Office supplies
  • Bits and pieces
Regular drawers (75–100 mm, depending on the model)
  • Compact power tools such as electric drills
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators or protective gloves
  • Tools such as screwdriver sets
Deep drawers (200–300 mm, depending on the model)
  • Work equipment such as cleaning agents or disinfectants
  • Compact spare parts and workpieces
  • Boxes with small parts
  • Files and folders
  • Assorted power tools

Many of the office and workshop storage drawers available in our online shop have both shallow and deep drawers, so you can store different work equipment in a single cabinet. However, we also have models where you can customise the drawer dimensions individually for maximum flexibility. In addition, you will find different-sized dividers for drawer cabinets. Depending on your needs, you can equip your drawer cabinets with partition walls, compartments or complete insert boxes.

2. Consider the load capacity of the drawers and cabinet

Our heavy-duty drawer cabinets are suitable for storing tools, files, and work accessories in a robust and safe environment. In order not to overload the drawers, it’s important to keep the maximum load-bearing capacity of the model in mind. This applies to both the load-bearing capacity of individual drawers and the total capacity of the unit. Depending on the model and manufacturer, you will find variants with a load capacity of up to 75 kg per drawer.

To ensure that the drawers can be easily pulled out, the guide rails and drawer slides must also be designed for the maximum load on the drawer. This is particularly important for drawers with full extension up to 100% so that the drawer slides do not bend or deform. Depending on the model and load capacity, our cabinets have the following drawer slides:

Drawer slides Load
Basic drawer runner

For low loads

Roller slides

For medium load

Ball bearing drawer runner

For high loads

Integrated kickers ensure that the metal drawer cabinet does not tilt forward even under maximum load and full extension. Since only one drawer can be pulled out at a time, the centre of gravity remains over the base.

3. Practical accessories for drawer cabinets

In addition to the retrofittable elements for dividing drawers, you will also find other accessories for drawer cabinets, which can help you further adapt the unit to your needs. For example, we offer foam mats for safely storing sensitive tools or components, and anti-slip mats to prevent tools and equipment from moving while the drawer is in use.
