3. Choosing a steel cabinet with the right doors
Whether you are looking for a reliable workshop storage cupboard, a compact side cabinet or lockable and spacious metal cabinets, our expansive range has what you need. The type of door and opening mechanism can make all the difference, particularly if you are operating in a restrictive space. In our shop, you will find three main door variants:
Steel cabinet with hinged doors
Hinged doors can be opened up to 180° for quick and easy access to all store goods. Models are available with single or double-hinged doors, depending on the overall size. The generously dimensioned and individually adjustable cabinet floor dividers allow even bulky items such as brooms and wipers to be stowed away neatly. The gullwing door cabinets are also lockable against unauthorised access.
Steel cabinets with sliding doors
Space-saving sliding door cabinets offer an ideal storage solution — even when space is limited. Since the doors do not open into the room, extra space does not need to be accounted for, as is the case with hinged doors. Therefore, these metal cabinets can be placed in particularly narrow spaces such as passageways. However, keep in mind that only one-half of the storage area can be fully exposed at one time. In some models, viewing windows make it possible to quickly identify stored goods without opening. This type of steel cabinet is also lockable.
Steel cabinets with shutters
Creating adequate storage space can be a challenge in small offices or workshops. A steel cabinet with roller shutters is the ideal solution for this. The blinds open at the front and can be completely rolled up into the cabinet body.
4. Consider the load-bearing capacity
A steel cabinet is characterised by its strength and durability. This makes them more suitable than workshop cupboards or cabinets made from wood. Nevertheless, all cabinets still feature a maximum load weight that should not be exceeded. This applies to shelving units, individual drawers, and the cabinet itself.
For your orientation: Most standard steel cabinets have a total load capacity of approximately 1000 kg and drawers can be loaded with approximately 80 kg each (depending on model). Our cabinets with reinforced frames and doors can handle a total load of approximately 1500 kg (also depending on model).
5. Which steel cabinets are lockable?
Regardless of door variant and size, almost all steel cabinets in our range can be locked for anti-theft protection. Look out for:
- Cylinder locks or twist bolt locks on the main door including a key set
- Some models also feature additional locking mechanisms for individual drawers
